Kokopelli, the hunch-backed flute player of the Southwest, cast and finished in sterling silver. His body carries a channel-inlaid panel of blue turquoise, opal and orange spiny oyster shell, his eye is a dot of turquoise, and the bail above him is inlaid with turquoise to match. A stamped sun symbol sits on his back, and the flute, feathered headdress and kicking legs are all cut in silver.
Kokopelli has been carved and painted across the Southwest for over a thousand years as a bringer of music, fertility and good harvests. This one is worked with hand-cut inlay: each stone set flush between silver walls, then ground and polished level with the metal.
